![]() ![]() 16149.html (the patch got apparently never committed or reviewed) Also see. Here's a related discussion from 2008 (including a patch). This would work with the changes I suggested - a more sophisticated method would be using the geo* functions in Nasal (such as findAirportsWithinRange() ), to automatically select the right profile based on the current location (also possible), such as "find all airports within 20m, and foreach icao code check if a matching chatter sub folder exists, if so use it) Now, to actually support airport-specific chatter (not a bad idea!), the script would need to be slightly modified - but it's definitely all possible!Īs a simple workaround, you could add two new sub folders: KPKB and KCRW - and then just store your airport-specific chatter sounds in the corresponding folder, and during startup, you could then select a certain sub folder to be used - using something like -prop:/sim/sound/chatter-subfolder=US/KPKB or -prop:/sim/sound/chatter-subfolder=US/KCRW (assuming you added the airport-specific sub folders in the "US" folder) from the website you mentioned (using converted WAV audio files) Next, you'll obviously want to replace the copied UK chatter snippets in the US subfolder with actual US ATC chatter, i.e. That will tell FG to use the new "US" sub folder. Just to see how easy it really is, copy the "UK" sub folder and name it "US", then change line 15 in atc-chatter.nas to read:Ĭode: Select all var chatter = getprop("/sim/sound/chatter-subfolder") or "UK" Īnd then start up FG with -prop:/sim/sound/chatter-subfolder=US So you could use a listener, so that it can be changed at run time - and even update the sound dialog to provide a dropdown menu of available "profiles". The variable "chatter" at the top of the file atc-chatter.nas determines which sub folder is used for chatter sound files. tc-chatterĪs you can see in $FG_ROOT/ATC/Chatter, there are already two subfolders: UK (default) and BR. The feature itself is implemented as a scripted Nasal module in $FG_ROOT/Nasal/atc-chatter. You'll only need to convert your WMA/MP3 files to WAV files (supported by Windows without additional software). It's fairly simple to add custom "chatter" sounds - the sounds (wav files) are all stored in $FG_ROOT/ATC/Chatter. It is for KCRW Charleston WV Tower Approach chatter. I found this link in LiveATC but I cannot get it to play right. The only "Chatter" recordings in FG are from the UK and BR (I am not sure what BR is). by looking at the recordings on that site, I am able to save some as WMA and other Audio FormatsĪnd put the recordings in the correct folders in FG. I cannot really run the Online programs for FG to get Real Time live updates and chatter.īut. and some in MD that are close to Ocean City and the Virginia What I am looking for is "Chatter" for the Airports in West Virginia, USA.Īnd any other airport around WV. Here is a site that offers Live chatter and recordings for anyone who is developing this feature. how do you add or incorporate "Chatter" recordings or other for FG. I have recently begun working with learning the ATC Lingo and using Chatter. it is a bit yuck right now but it is the current best we have.I am not sure if this is the right forum topic area but. the ones you catch at the beginning are the traffic manager catching up with the backlog. yes, the AI needs a lot of love but once they're all loaded and take off, the problem reduces quite a lot and only comes around when they are doing their normal scheduled flights. If you want the AI enabled, you have to tune off the ATC tower and/or ground frequencies but you'll still get all the text of the speech on the top of the sim screen. You EXACTLY RIGHT I DISABLED THE AI AND IT STOPPED. i find it disconcerting that the text completes long before the voices and all you can do is let the voice buffer empty or turn off the AI. especially when you have a bunch of craft starting up and heading out. the AI talk can be noisy at large busy airports. that means that one would need to turn off AI so they and the AI traffic controller are not talking between themselves so much. the easy fix is to tune off of those frequencies but that negates the red griffin usage. Wkitty42 wrote in Sat 4:56 pm:this almost sounds like the OP is hearing the tower/ground talking to the AI craft.
